Who owns which pipe in San Marcos and North County
Several agencies share this area. Knowing which one reads your meter saves a wasted call.

Vallecitos Water District
Vallecitos serves about 45 square miles of northern San Diego County, including San Marcos and parts of Vista, Carlsbad and Escondido. Its sewer area is smaller than its water area.
The district's pages explain where its responsibility ends and the property owner's begins.
For water main breaks and sewer spills, the district lists (760) 744-0460, and (760) 744-0461 as its after-hours and holiday number. For anything that endangers people, call 911 first.

Vista Irrigation District
VID serves the city of Vista and some surrounding areas, so check your bill to see whether it is your water provider.
Its report-a-problem page gives (760) 597-3100 for reporting a leak.

Escondido and Carlsbad
Escondido runs its own water and sewer. The city's Public Works line for water and sewer leaks and flooding is 760-839-4668.
Carlsbad Municipal Water District serves most of Carlsbad. For the southern part of the city, the city points customers to Olivenhain Municipal Water District, Leucadia Wastewater District or Vallecitos.

Water is still moving, or the room is already wet?
Call the number and describe what happened. You are connected with an independent restoration contractor who serves your ZIP. Calling early helps, because wet drywall and flooring get harder to save each day.
